What do you mean by SEXUAL HARASSMENT?

In today’s scenario we are facing sexual harassment at the workplace, not only work place in any other places, maybe we think only women are being sexually harassed, but even men are facing these problems. This blog is about Women facing sexual harassment and what it means, nowadays women are independent and they are working for their family, so some of the women are facing sexual harassment at workplace. Many of the women won’t tell about the sexual harassment they are facing at work, because they are afraid that they may lose their job or maybe they are not so brave to share such things happening to them in the public.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT LAW

Nowadays some people are unaware of sexual harassment unless they have experienced it at any circumstances. Sexual harassment is when a person requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. when submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly, this means the person has been sexually harassed.

What forms of non-physical actions are considered sexual harassment?

Before answering this question first, we have to know that along with physical actions, non-physical actions are also considered as a sexual harassment, such as overt sexual innuendos, offensive jokes, remarks about a person’s sexual orientation or sex life.

STOP HARASSING WOMEN

So, I have mentioned some of the non-physical actions that are considered sexual harassment. In this century our technology has been developed well so that everybody is using social media to make new friends and to develop their business and this is a good thing. But Women are sexually harassed through social media, some of them are using social media only to harass women by creating their fake id’s. They are harassing women by sending them sexual photographs, videos, and vulgar messages, but don’t worry about this there is a cybercrime where you can report a complaint about this sexual harassment when it is online.

I am not saying that only through online there will be non-physical sexual harassment, as I have mentioned some of the forms above when a person is speaking with offensive words or describe your private parts and request for a sexual favour at your workplace or in your college, school, where ever it is, you have to be brave and raise your voice against them, a complaint to the higher authority or to the police who can take action about this. 


What should I do if I am facing sexual harassment?


Everyone know India is the main hotspot for sexual harassment, in this case, what should we do when we are facing sexual harassment or if we are watching a person being sexually harassed as a citizen of India. If you are facing sexual harassment at your workplace or where ever you are, you need to complain to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) or Local Complaints Committee (LCC), before approaching to these committee’s you have to collect as much evidence as you can, such as recording the conversation, taking screenshots of the messages they have sent you. Then give a  complaint about sexual the harassment you are facing at the workplace, schools, colleges etc., even when you notice a person who is facing sexual harassment, as a citizen of this country, please take stand. If you wish to make a complaint to an organization with less then 10 people, against someone for whom you work in any other capacity, or the employer, you can approach the LCC which has been constituted at the district-level by the government.




Nowadays, so many are facing sexual harassment not only women even men are facing this problem in this society, especially in India. Women are sexually harassed in many places such as bus, office, schools, colleges, even your own house. Even children are facing sexual harassment, but poor children don’t even know what they are going through. So, please educate your children with verbal and physical sexual harassment and children need to know about this in schools, so that these children can inform about this to their parents or teachers when they are sexually harassed.
